Hopefully people will not have a problem with me posting this.

My MKIII is my dream bike but after years of not riding, I went a little crazy and bought a bunch of bikes.

I was going through a divorce earlier this year and my ex would not let me have a motorcycle. I finally had the freedom to do what I liked so I went off the deep end a little. I started with a 1987 Honda Hurricane that was missing all the original fairings it ran okay but was pretty ugly. Paid $300 for it.

I decided to try and convert it to 2004 CBR RR fairings because they were available fairly cheap and looked like they could be fit to the older bike...turned out I was right, but it took a lot of fabrication and tweaking to get it to work. Here is a pic of the bike ready to be torn down and painted. I've painted everything but haven't gotten the bike back together because I am sorting my new shop right now.

While working on the CBR, I posted on Craigslist looking for parts or parts bikes and ended up buy 3 more Hurricanes for hardly nothing.

Here is one that I picked up for $200 that has all the original fairings and runs. I plan on restoring this one because all original ones are actually hard to find because they were all crashed and original plastics are hard to find.

My girlfriend asked me why we couldn't ride the CBR's and I told her I didn't think my old body could take the riding position so I set out to find something more comfortable to ride that didn't cost an arm and a leg. Here are the bikes I ended up with. There is a low miles 2004 Honda Trike, a nice 2006 Honda shadow with 8000 miles and a Kawasaki Vulcan with 5000 miles. The one in the middle I sold recently to help pay for the Norton build.

I found the Norton after I already had these bikes but now that is my primary project. I plan to retire next year and will have my new shop set up to work on my bikes and other projects.

Would love to see other's bikes....post em up :D

2001 Buell blast, got it for the wife since she works for HD. She hasn't used it much, still timid about bikes.

and
1973 Commando 850. This is the bike that started my fascination with Nortons. I got it free in 1997. Family friend was going to dumpster it.
It was a chopper, so basically an engine and transmission. I built it up as a Dunstall originally, rode it 100 miles and the engine locked up. It's been a project since, been thru several build ideas until this one. Hoping to make a bunch of progress this winter.

There was another (several?) thread on this same topic not that long ago; it was several pages long with lots of nice bikes.

Lovely Bonneville. Always liked the look and wondered how they compare to a Commando? I rode a single carb 650 Triumph this summer, it was setup as a street scrambler in a lightweight frame. I must say I was disappointed at the lack of power and braking, but that might have been a poor example, tho it ran well and has a fresh engine.
Was hoping a Bonny would feel nearly as strong as my 850 Commando and be able to run at freeway speed without nasty vibes?

need a few thousand on em , to ' free off ' , and gearing for say 90 to 100 + in third .

suppose the differance is you need to be useing around 5 or 6 ( thousand rpm ) on a Triumph .
and have all the bolts TIGHT . ( engine to frame ) . bars / pegs might dither at a certain rpm ,
but something needs changeing if theyre numbing . a decent T100 Daytona 500 is a good start .

Thrash that & not much will stay with you on a twisty road , or 90 mph down hill two up , on the Gravel . :D

Shouldnt have had the throttle held on the stop , in the first 1.000 miles . A T120 should pull around that ,
or somethings not quite right ( scrawny bloke , prone ) usually need a tooth or two though , should be at 7.000 .

anything that sounds like a Z1 ( sewing machine ) in the valve gear needs the mechanic keel hauling .

a bit of mild tweaking , 1 1/8 carbs ( or better ) with carefull assembly should see past 120 on the flat
or 115 single carb . WITH CAREFULL RUNNING IN & MAINTANCE . a Triumph isnt scared to rev . 7500
is std road legal red line . Controls require a bit mmore delicate co-ordination than the Commandos
' micro switch ' remote aspect . Gravel roads & let er Rip , and youll know youre liveing . 8)

Q. would it stop your eye balls bouncing up and down with the vibration of the engine :?:
And would it stop your teeth fillings falling out for the same reason :?:  :?

I'll play . . . here's one of my little bikes: '66 Ducati Monza 250 Bevel Narrow. Picked up some little bags at a swap a couple weekends ago- perfect fit:

That's an interesting bike. Never seen one of those. A buddy had a 450 Ducati back in the day. Always like them.

Nice! My buddy used to race me on his 450 against my BSA Hornet...he was faster in the twisties :D
