Good morning all,

I have some spare parts with a 1970 Norton Commando that I don't require and am wondering if it's worth listing these on EBay as they're fairly heavy and likely to cost more to post than the parts are worth.

The parts are the original foot control set, kick start lever and ignition system. They are in Calgary, AB in very good condition.

Many thanks,

joe

If the chrome is good on the original parts then they will fetch a decent price. If the chrome is peeling or rusting off, not so much. I might point out that these are the kinds of items that get bent in fairly mild accidents. None of us plan to have one but they are not bad spares.

As for the ignition...is that the auto-advance unit for the points?

One of the reasons I never try to restore bikes is the difficulty in getting original parts. Mostly they are thrown away when guys fit aftermarket bits to 'improve ' their bikes. Many people believe that something is only worth what you can get for it when you sell it - that is not true. A pristine and original commando is a valuable item, however the value cannot be assessed by market price. I suggest you should find somebody who sells at Autojumbles, and ask them to sell the bits for you. Even if you get a pittance for them, at least they will be recycled.

Have you checked the prices at the local dump lately? It costs a fortune to throw stuff away today! List them, if they're in that good of condition they'll sell.
