The thread on the seats below made me think of my old Manx Race seat.
It's a wideline all metal shaped base, usual manx shape (pretty large) but with a curved cut out in the middle on the back edge.
I've been searching for pictures and can't seem to find anything, I'm hoping a knowledgable person on here may be able to help if a picture?
I'll get a picture of mine up tomorrow.

I have a few photos of an original seat pan, if you'd like to PM me.
I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but let me know and I'll shoot photos of what you need.

Here are a few pictures.
It certainly has some patina! What do you think?

Yeah that looks great to me. I actually like the patina. My seat is the same shape. Although I've just got the seat pan. No padding or upholstery. And mine needs some metal work before it's anywhere near useable.
What bike are you mounting that on?

The pans in really good condition, the cover isn't bad at all too, I think it may have some kind of fibre/hair like bad as it's a bit crunchy feeling where the padding is, like my old vw seats.
So it is an original manx race seat then? Do you have any more info on them?

I've got a bit of a project on the go, a 1954 Triton. Norton bolt up wideline with a pre unit triumph motor and box, it's a bit like the seat, original with patina! It's apart at the moment, I don't want to lose the patina as it's got a real authentic cafe racer feel around it. It's got a number of vintage bits, road holders, tickle front brake and clip ons, what we think is a Eddie Dow alloy yoke, dunstalll rear sets..... Got a few bits to find but really enjoyed finding out more about the period parts.
I've got several bits and pieces, some of which I don't need which I'll be looking to sell and trade for the few bits left I do need. Would this be a good place to look? Any recommendations?
I'd love to see some pictures, I'm trying to find some period photographs of bikes like mine, any ideas?

Sounds to me like your project is spot on!
Definitely would be nice to maintain all the original patina, but I know it's difficult when you're piecing something together. Your project sounds a lot like mine. I've got a 1956 Wideline featherbed that's getting a 1961 Norton 650 motor and all the original period bits. We may be able to help each other. I've got some spares that is be willing to trade for some of the parts I still need. Please let me know if you're looking for anything in particular, and what you might have to trade.
This forum is definitely got some good members but it's a lot more skewed to Commando owners.
I'll try and dig out some photos that I have and will share them with you.
Always nice to hear about guys working on projects similar to my own.

That sounds like a great project too. Had my first few hours on it today and now I'm determined to get it back together a running by Christmas!

Helping each other out would be great, it's why I wanted to join a forum of like minded people, and to learn too?

Parts wise the bike is complete really and a have extra bits too, I think I have three rear brake sets!ha
I do need a central oil tank (got original side tank and tool/battery box, they were never fitted). My bike was taken apart many years ago and stored. Thankfully lots of cool bits remained but a load of other random bits were added to the pile as it were. I've just posted a thread on Converta plates.

I'd like another tank, the fibre glass original is pretty battered and I'm all for keeping things super original and the patina but fuel all over the place is a bit to far!ha

No head light in the pile either.
Also need, smaller stuff like twist grip, cables but I can get them ok, it's the original, dusty bits I'm after really.

In my opinion, our seat is definitely an original Manx racing seat. It'd be from the 50's, as thy stopped using metal on them, in 1960.
Your motorbike sure sounds nice to me. I don't have an extra central oil tank and I'm looking for one myself as well. I have an original alloy fuel tank, but unfortunately, no extras.
I've got a nice set of Marchant & Durward clip ons, and an extra set of John Tickle alloy fender brackets. Those could be offered up for trade, for the right bits that I still need.
I don't have any extra twist grips or cables at the moment, but those shouldn't be too hard to find.
What are the extra brakes you have?
I'm looking for some alloy foot pegs for some rear set pedals that I already have. I'm also looking for some special front and rear brakes as well. Actually I'd be interested in any special period correct parts.
Let me know if you're interested in anything I have and maybe there's a trade of some sort.

Sorry Wilkey, sons bath time, daddies job.

Fender brackets could be good for me, mines got a home made alloy one on it, might keep, but do like the tickle pieces.
Like to see a pic of your clip ons, not heard of them.
The brakes I have is just the foot levers, I think I have a couple of dunstall's though.

I may know of some brakes, I'll check them out for you.

I've prober lay got some alloy pegs, period ones.

We're looking for similar kind of stuff, I don't mind if things are a bit battered ie an alloy tank that's got dented and worn even a few fixes or needs some would be ideal for mine.

Sounds like your over in the States, I'm in the UK could work well spotting a few parts.
