I have a "one-side sealed" mainshaft bearing from Old Britts. One side has a metal shield, the other, a plastic one. I assume the metal shield side faces out of the gearbox, towards the countersprocket, and the plastic side in, towards the sleeve gear. Can anyone confirm or deny?
The last bearing I got like this had the metal shield only; you could see and touch the ball bearings from the other side.
Thanks folks.
