If these solid axles only come in SS then cancel my order PERMANENTLY. SS is shear load known breakage here in past SS 'good idea' axles that also broke in time.
Fine for show queen that don't see much engine loads nor road impacts. Might as well put SS cradle bolts in too - to live on the edge of showy suspense.

I agree. Stainless for show, not for go.
Isn't there a Honda axel that is suppose to correct length?

Yes the small Honda twins have 17mm axles and most common DIY item to source in past for this.

"The only thing I would wish for ( and willing to pay the difference) is for the spacer to be made from Stainless Steel."
your right side axle spacer is steel and so is the long bearing spacer separating the 2 bearings, I see no reason to make the spacer from stainless steel,
Regarding Hobots concern, unlike the standard axle which seems to break no matter what its made out of the one piece axle has NO threaded portion between the 2 swingarm plates, there is a FULL 9'16" of axle that would have to be sheared, virtually impossible even under your abuse Hobot

SS is nice because you can polish it to look like chrome if you wish,
and rebuff to a fine shine easily. It is also nice to have rust free parts.

Since the customer requests, just give him an upcharge. If he bridles,
well then he goes with with plated.
This isnt to slag you, rather we are happy we have you to make all sorts
of silly old bike parts for us old fools to purchase. Note that more than
one vendor offers the speedo side spacer in SS. I have one. :)

yep very happy. didn't mean to sound dis satisfied. I do like the part. Nothing is lacking for perfect function and purpose.

I just find that plated steel in non-critical, non load bearing parts can start to look ugly over time and the area where this part is exposed to the elements is not that accsesable for cleaning and polishing. Just looking for the cosmetics and endurance of the fisnish of a Stainless spacer over the plated one. The right side spacer from the speedo drive and arm is stainless ( i had already replaced the stock steel ones), and all exposed (non load) parts are as well.

Jeff, the one piece axle spacer is NOT seen when in use, it is 100% inboard of the swingarm side plate, therefore its hidden by the brake plate and sprocket drum. the only reason for having it zinc plated is not for cosmetics but to resist corrosion.

I replaced essentially All of Peel spacers with alloy and saved a few lbs to lug about.
SS would be fine for spacers in clamp loads. Think of hitting pot hole edges and leaning loads on spaghetti like swing arm long term to put off SS axle in Norton dia. maddass is doing it like I'd order and for same reasons and reasoning. I'm sold.
Might also consider replacing the spring steel brake safety spring to be rid of that rust prone eye sore too.

Hobot, please tell me which area of the one piece axle is going to brake.

I never had SS axle to break only read the tales form UK guys long before we showed up on the scene. A non issue to me as sticking with real steel you supply so ignore my second hand hear say reports and see if you eventually can tell us where SS axle breaks. My guess is in same area as dumb axle as thats the seam area of drum and hub secured stable by wimpy rubber pads.

Seems to me that flex/stretch would be more of an issue along with maintaining proper torque.

Ah crap pviss, wife got to see it on your flash back but agree's with your comment and to keep peace I must too....

and another for the Featherbeds also, I'll get on it , but it wont happen overnight,

I just got mine today. Ordering is a snap, and the shipping is speedy. Nice work. And no, it's not ever going to break. I'd guess this is more than equal to a Honda axle in the strength deparment.
