I bought a used oil tank off eBay and sent it out for the cNw mod. I did that instead of sending mine out because I don't like the way the cap fits my old tank. The used one was in very nice shape, even had the rear tab intact.

Anyhoo, when I went to install it on my 74 850 I discovered that the spigot for the return line is about 2 inches short.

Were there different part numbers for side mounted tanks, or should they all be the same? I can't imagine why someone would cut that pipe short.

There certainly appears to be 'long' and 'short' pipe variants.
This one is supposedly 06-3456 (Mk3) but it has a spigot.

Long seem to be 'late'.

I have a box full of slightly differing oil tanks.
oil tank 06-3095? in the 73 parts book ?
Not sure what was going on but there is possibly a hose difference for the 73 850 VS the combat breather 73 750
On this issue I had thought that some tank vent exit tubing therefore had different sizes...but not sure
