Do you mean this:

New oil tanks have not been manufactured since the factory closed in 1975. This oil tank is now being manufactured by Andover Norton and is finished in gloss black. This new tank incorporates a reinforced bottom to eliminate the weekness in the original tanks.

After seeing the ease w/o a bottom bolt but supported with rubber pad with hole in it to help stabilize oil tank, that's my down/dirty way, but could be done with with large washer/plate JBWeld around the threaded hole and be done with it forever, or until the top tabs give up. I get road orgasms on Ms Peel with my pants on but so far resisted peashooters at just the right temp : )

OK so does she ride with you? And does the vibration tend to loosen her up? Locktite?

Aw shucks, Robots and robotics are not on my mind when on my Commando's but do occur to me on modern buzzy road appliances or older tractor like chuggers.
Trixie affects me like the New Orleans slut she is, nothing special but always a good ride to get me off here and there w/o much special attention or shopping.
Ms Peel affects me like the TV icon, flights to fantasy level with strong sensations from seat to crown of hormonal splashing and still always more to give than I can take. Getting oil tank isolated-stablized removes another layer of man and machine interface on Commandos - which to me should flat disappear from pilot sensation but for the shove in the seat that also conveys the rear patch working.

I am going to re-address to the group.
I am currently looking into all oil tank modifications prior to powder coating. From what I have gatherer so far; the top mount needs reinforcement, the rubber mounting studs should be replaced with the HD variety,blanking the chain oiler and most say to abandon the bottom mount in favor of a pad.
Unfortunately, with my bike dissembled I can't visualize what is supporting the bottom of the oil tank. Anyone have a picture of the modified tank with bottom pad in use?

I have also seen mention of the top seem being trimmed.
What is the purpose for this modification?
Is it model specific?
What area is trimmed.

I can attest that it's good to get out and ride. I even have my neighbor women commenting on the bike. I just need to get to Middleburg and park next to all the harleys in front of the Magpie Restaurant and have the chicks come over and drool. So far it's next to sex, as if I could do anything but dream.
