Oil pump sealing conical washer failure ?? Or ??

No miles travelled. Shed tinkering only luckily. My triumphs and royal enfield never had anything remotely similar. I had a navigator in 72 but spanner work was mainly fitting a new head gasket every week ! Skimmed the heads , had the CI barrels checked . Never got to the bottom of it ?? It sounded great with a pair of reverse con megas though !! Till the gasket went again . Roy. Nortons do look the best !!

If you are talking triumph twins they use a piston oil pump that actually is prone to failure especially if a tiny bit of debris gets under one of the ball valves
Royal Enfield's usually have a quill running in a cork to feed the big end
These too are known to fail

..... However if I wanted to sit idlely in the shed all day I'd get a Honda or equivalent!! With a mk3 there's always something to try and make function correctly !! Keeps me busy .....
Sadly, my Honda has had about 100 hours from me in the year I've owned it. An engine out job. I only had to service the Commando! This next year with the Honda will test your comment. It's on probation :)

Yeah but they don’t wet sump !

And a modern filter kit will prevent the debris issue.

I have only ever heard one bloke saying his 650 triumph wet sumped
I often wondered about that
Can the pump become so worn
Or maybe loose?
I don't see how it could do it compared to a gear pump
But he insisted it did
