I wasn't paying attention when I took these out. One side of the gears has a chamfer on the ID, and the other side doesn't. Does it matter which way they face?
Either way will do. But what is more important is to match the facing teeths of the two pumpgears (one side of the tooth is polished the other side looks 'unused').
