90 degrees? What's that? Come to Ireland one summer (bring thermal undergarments & plenty of rain gear)

I'm certain if the Norton were to be manufactured today it would have an oil cooler. Wait! What's that I see mounted on the downtubes of the new 961? Well, I'll be durned if it isn't an oil cooler. Quite similar to the size and shape of the Lockhart I run on my 72 Combat.

Ludwig's analogy of the front brake is dead on. It's not about cooling the oil all the time, only when the oil temperature nears the point of degradation. That's what the thermostat is for.

I have a Hyde oil cooler with a 74-degree C thermostat--it actuates every time I get off the tollway whenever it's over 60 degrees F here in the Land of Lincoln.
