I am about to design a filter holder that will fit on my new stainless tank.
I am thinking in terms of having hose connectors on the side for motor.
And on the backside pipes for oil to the bottom of the tank and a
observable one for return. I went to the local farmers heaven and bought
a spin on filter that looked nice. Later it revealed itself to fit a bobcat, diesel.

So my question reads as follows. Is there a difference that really matters between a
diesel engine oil filter and a gasoline/petrol ditto.
If anyone interested I can show scetches when done.

Hi Andreas,
I don't know if there is any difference. However, because you are not talking about a major expense, consider buying one each and cutting them open for an examination. Oil filters are built with a by-pass system, gasoline/diesel filters may or may not. However, being that Norton oil filters are plumbed into the return line it probably doesn't make any difference anyway.

I run straight 40 weight oil thats designed for diesels so I personally dont think it matters.
