I'm connecting all oil lines, and I believe I have everything sorted, including the correct oil connections to the engine which are shown incorrectly in my Norton parts diagram. The red and blue connections on the Old Britts diagram (probably originated from the Norton Shop Manual) is in full alignment with an Andover Norton diagram I found, so I think all is good.
However, I revisited the installation instructions that came with my oil filter kit. (from Andover). It shows the feed of pressurized oil from the engine going to the left side of the oil filter, with the filtered oil leaving the right side of the filter and on to the oil tank. All of my other information indicates the pressurized feed from the engine comes from the left side tube on the engine and entering the right side of the oil filter. Given there is a check valve in there, I'd like to be sure this is correct. Can anyone absolutely confirm the correct oil flow through the filter? Thanks for your time!

My oil filter kit housing is probably 40 years old. The housing has IN and OUT cast into it at the hose connections. I'm guessing yours does not. Anywho, my mildly pressurized oil from the engine goes into the hose fitting on the right side of the filter housing. Return oil to the oil tank from the filter leaves the housing from the left side fitting in the filter housing. It is also mildly pressurized. That last bit in your description is how my hoses run from the engine. Email Andover for peace of mind.

Yes, LAB, agreed. I definitely have the oil filter piped up on the correct pressurized return line, which exits the engine from the left side fitting, contradicting the diagram you're showing from the parts manual. My concern now is exactly how the filter itself is piped up. Almost all of the documents I have indicated that the pressured oil feeds the right hand side of the oil filter, except the Andover Norton installation instruction sheet. I really think I should reach out to Andover about this just to be sure. Thanks Schwany and LAB for your responses.

Here's a picture of the oil filter kit instructions. If you ignore the arrows that I marked in, take a look at the part number descriptions. I have sent this document along with the red and blue colored one from the service manual (which aligns with LAB's submission from the parts manual) to Andover for their comment.
At this point, I think I'll try a bit of compressed air on the two lines. That will be less work than pulling the oil filter mount off the bike. That task rivals removing the horn!

Well, it's settled. I took a British yoga lesson and removed the filter mounting boss. Per the picture, it's marked just like Schwanzy's. I had the connections reversed, so one more yoga lesson and it will be re-piped and installed correctly. The Andover filter kit instructions were misleading, at least to me. Thanks again for your time.
