oil cooler plumbing

HI all, I'm going to install a lockhart oil cooler on my 850 this summer,I'm just woundering the best plumbling route to use.
from the line out from the oil tank to(oil cooler sitting in the middle of these 2 points) before it goes into the oil pump feed.
Thats just a gess, so the oil is being cooled before it enters the motor?

Re oil cooler, If it is any help my Trident has the feed to the oil cooler teed of the rocker spindle oil feed. I believe this is done so as to feed the cooler with low pressure oil. The return from the cooler is back to the oil tank. You would not want the cooler in the suction line to the oil pump.
The return to the tank line would be OK, I think.
The cooling effect is probably enhanced by a low pressure flow through the cooler, so as to extract maximum heat form the oil. Be carefull the oil does not run too cool, if you operate in cold temperatures during winter months, you may need a thermostat device, or just forget the oil cooler all together.

I don't quite follow your logic Joe? If an oil cooler was fitted in the return side between the engine and oil tank or in the feed between oil tank and engine (not a good idea I would think unless fitted below the level of the oil tank?) then the oil still gets cooled just the same.
