After about 1100 mi. since getting it back from the dealer with the new tranny, and still leaking oil from the crankcase, my oil level on the dipstick was just to the bottom line. Added 300 ml to halfway btw the bottom and top line where it started from. So....it a slow enough leak but enough to still crack it open and have sealed. Just thought I'd share that.

Not at all. A little oil forms on top of the crankcase under the starter. It doesn't make it to the floor. I wipe it off after my ride anyway.

Hello Britfan60 , You may benefit from the trans vent that Richard-7 talked about. I am working on my version this week and I will post pictures. When I changed my Tranny oil It was clear there was no venting. The oil leaked out of the drain hole very slowly. When you crack open the fill plug it comes flowing out fast. A vent will release the pressure from the heat and turbulence in the transmission so that it will not force its way out at other points. Its easy enough to try a test yourself. Just purchase a plastic threaded fitting with a 1/4" barb. Then put a piece of clear plastic hose on the barb long enough to reach up high about where the throttle bodies are and secure with a ty-rap. This threaded plastic fitting will go in place of the trans fill plug and should be sized to be smaller then the trans fill plug. Then build up its diameter with Teflon tape or similar so it fits snugly when you thread it in to the trans fill hole. Remember this is only a test not permanent. Then take it out for a long and fast ride , like you do when you notice the oil puddle after rides. See if this resolves it for you. I did this same test and you don't have to worry about oil gushing up the vent tube. All of these parts are at ACE hardware and cheap.

Try this like I did. The trans needs a vent. The trans vent from Richard-7 looks more elegant than mine. But I can't wait so I fabricated my own. Kind of like the way it looks now. Please read the above message about how I discovered there was inadequate venting to the trans.

That's awesome. Glad these Manuals are helping out!!! If you vent it to the air-box you won't have to worry about failing emissions -- If that matters where you live of course.

BTW - I just learned how to change the time on the cluster from 24hr to 12hr and modify the fuel level warning to what ever MILES you want... I have a few more manuals in the Queue, just gotta get a minute to sit down at the computer and write it out. PICS already captured.

Hello Richard-7 , You guys did not mention what size the threaded plug is in the top of the air box ? You know the one that is removed to allow the vent of trans to the air box. Will this be in the kit you are making ? Pipe thread or machine thread etc.. Also looking forward to the oil in the airbox fix. My trans vent barb 1/8 in pipe common in the hardware stores . And Thanks for all your help and enthusiasm.

Yes, there will be a kit available soon for both Trans vent and preventing OIL in the AIRBOX.

I am currently testing a vent for those who don't need the emissions, or don't like the clutter of another hose, or just like to keep it simple. I will post a pic after some testing!

I should take a pic of my 77 Suzuki Trans vent. It would be so perfect for you to copy. Totally wouldn't pass emissions tho but neither would a 2-stroke these days.. lol

I had a chronic oli leak problem which was solved by installing an vent from the trans to the airbox. The vent was installed by Norton Canada. I think they sourced it from Richard.

Richard, when will the kits be available?

To make things worth your while, I was thinking of buying say 10 from you and distributing them here in the UK?

Basically you can buy a straight or right angle fitting at your local hardware store or McMasterCarr.com and then you need to drill and tap your filling bolt to fit. I used a 1/16 NPT fitting on mine, cost a whopping $1.82!

 Glad it worked.

Dozer -- Going away next week for a week, so after I get back we will have more things available plus we can discuss further.

Trans vent kit for sale uk.

I have a spare trans vent kit for sale in the uk, having just got one fitted by a friend.

The kit is brand new in the sealed box from Colorado Norton Works. It cost me £90 including postage to ship to the uk. Looking for a decent offer from a UK buyer.

Thanks.
