Hi All, trust your all keeping safe & well and preferably locked up in your garages or workshops.
Just working out what amp fuse i need to be fitting..
I know the LED headlamp & LED tail lamp/stop lamp
Does anyone know what the power consumption is of the Pazon sure fire system??

Have a wiring diagram?

If you're fusing the module power a 3 amp fuse is appropriate. If you're fusing coil current 5 amp is OK.

Basically fuse size is determined by wire size.
Old house wiring rules.
The fuse/breaker MUST protect the wire. (From fire if a short occurs)
But there is no rule against a smaller fuse, that would keep the tiny device from doing a Chernobyl imitation should it short internally.
you could argue a 20 ga. wire should be used, but mechanical strength reduces.

OK ....So in standard fettle with twin coil points ignition, 35 watt headlamp 5/21 watt tail lamp what was the OE rated fuse??

Using 3 amps you get around 38 VA/watts@12.9v and around 42VA/watts at 14.3v
The current is probably less than 3a average but surge x duty cycle give the rated avg draw.
The wire size should be based on coil drive surge current.

This is the power consumers chart for the MK3
(so ignore the starter motor bits and bobs)

Power consumption of the Pazon Electronic Ignition

The difference between points and a Pazon electronic ignition is negligible, as the bulk of the current consumption in the ignition system is the coils.

Sticking with the factory fusing works fine

Yes, my point is a 3 amp fuse offers no more protection than a 20 amp fuse will for the Pazon unit. Always protect the smallest size wire with the correct size fuse. If you branch off a larger wire with a smaller size wire put a fuse in that line also. That holds true in household and auto use.
