It is with an impending sense of doom I ask you all this. What is this? where should it be? Putting her back together i found this in the bottom of one of the boxes, maybe from the primary drive side of things. I have a feeling she's going to have to come apart again! Ta

Hello Alpha,

If you pull something apart often enough, sooner or later you will have 2 of them!

Yes, It is a clutch centre tab washer.
Notice how it has been damaged by tigtening.
I had this problem, where it deformed and my clutch basket came loose.
When I offered the nut to the basket it did not appear to 'overlap' the basket bore by much, meaning the effective contact bearing pressure would be high.
Does anyone have any comments on this?
Stu.

Some parts diagrams show this lock tab replaced by a spring washer. Also most of the workshop manuals give the wrong torque figure for this nut - about 70 ft/lbs from memory - given that it is merely bearing against the circlip on the shaft the correct torque of around 45 ft/lbs is more than adequate.
