maybe I being simplistic here but this method worked on a gearbox I worked on...
pop the bushes in the freezer overnight and when ready to install.....heat the swing arm where the bushes go and they should be easy to press in?

did this with a BSA gearbox, but the case was alloy so it probably expanded more easily. the bushes were in the freezer overnight and literally dropped into the gearbox case after heating it.

any thought?

That's the way it sould be. In case you can't pop them in by hand I'd suggest to press the bushes in by using a vise and a spot of oil.

Hey, just found this website and so far it's very useful and a big help as I restore my Mk3. If you still need advice installing your swingarm bushings, let me know and I'll send you a photo of a simple method. I haven't figured out how to post photos or add my "resto-link" to this forum. My e-mail address is: tim@jmkconstruction.ca

Hi Tim
Welcome to the forum! I hope you and your bike are on high ground there in Winterpeg :)

Thanks for your concern and yes, we're expecting flooding here in Winnipeg due to the heavy snowfalls just south of us. Norton project may be put on hold while we help friends just outside the city as the Red River begins swelling.

TJ58 stay warm, dry, and above the waters please! And please let me know if I can help with your project. That was mine that led to the thread referred to above, and armed with the collective knowledge imparted by many contributors (thanks again folks!) I am up on this subject now. Happy to help if I can - let me know. BrianK
