Considering a 1972 750 Commando whose engine was replaced with a '73 850. Any issues to consider with this sort of setup?

No...it should be a straightforward engine swap.
If the 850's carbs and box type head steady were fitted along with the engine, there shouldn't be anything to worry about?

Check to see if they did it with 'vernier' adjustable isolastics.
They hopefully did. They are better.

I'll do that, thanks. Is there an easy way to determine which type you have? The owner didn't do the swap and doesn't seem to know.

People rarely do that upgrade unless they want to keep the bike. If you pull back the rubber boot (gaiter) over the right side of the front engine mount (the front isolastics) vernier adjustable iso's will have a shiny metal disc on the end with obvious holes drilled into it. The holes are where you insert the adjuster tool.

An opposing opinion: I have had to adjust the shims on my '72 750 once in 25,000 miles and ten years. The front is very easy to remove and check while holding in a vice. The rear is difficult, but not bad if you remove enough parts to get at one side. With shims there is no rusted vernier to worry about (I know get stainless). :)
