after reading the post and replies about the "Ebay Commando" in Au I am confused as to what I have...

I could not find any markings on the head other than "BIRCO" no other casting marks of stamps. Where should I be looking for any other marking?

On the Cyl base it has the same "BIRCO" and a upside-down "B" on the left side rear, on the right side is the number 063850

the engine, trans & frame numbers match 300032 with a build date of 6 73

additionally, there are two numbers stamped into the frame itself on the neck tube: 28 and 00100

Also, the gap between the cyl and the head is about 1/2 the size of the gap between any of the other fins...

The cylinder head designation should be stamped above the off side exhaust rocker cover. Typically I can't find a picture for reference.

Sounds like you have a 850. Your head is probably a RH4.
The stamp is under the head stay on the right side above the exhaust tappet cover.

Yes it's an 850, as all 850s had a 3***** engine number, so it would not originally have been a tuned Combat model.

That's quite normal, so is nothing to worry about.

S'interesting as I was looking for the very same thing at the w/e, couldn't find mine either.

The engine number is S/200535, the bike doesn't have matching numbers, tho that's not that unusual  Anyway it was registered in '72, tho manufactuer was in '71. It also hasn't got any of the breather mods, either. The question I'd like to ask is; Should they be done? I bought the rebuild vids from NOC, Mick Hemmings was showing the holes drilled in the timing case + the pipe bracket in the blank space.

Cheers,

H
