I'm in the Vancouver area as well. The collector coverage is very reasonable, especially if you are able to make use of a collector multiplate. To go on a multiplate all of the vehicles must first be accepted as collector vehicles. It is a bit of a process to get the collector status, but once the bike qualifies it can then go on the list. My total cost for five bikes plated for a full year, 2 million liability, is just $550.
By comparison the non collector 05Triumph Daytona was about $500 for six months.

Glen

Yup, I've got the same situation Glen.

I'm considering sourcing Norvil bodywork for my '72 Commando. In my jurisdiction [Vancouver] I'm able to take advantage of considerably reduced insurance premiums by insuring my bikes under "classic collector" status, but the bikes must follow closely as possible cosmetic availability when it was made new, or use only cosmetic modifications available before or during the time it was built. I've been told that 'production racer' bodywork could be bought through Norton dealers, but there's never been any confirmation of any other color than the yellow almost unversally seen. I'm thinking of a navy blue, but must be carefull about voiding insurance.
Any thoughts on the colors seen through the years on this body work option?

I would switch insurance. There should be some collector insurance that isn't that anal.

How is the Insurance Co going to determine if your bike is the correct Collector Shade of Yellow ?
What happens if its not quite yellow enough ??

British Columbia has a government monopoly mandatory insurance, with options for private insurance companies only for optional insurance like collision, comprehensive, specified perils, etc. With their 'collector plate' program, you must submit 4 pictures of your bike to their office that determines the cosmetic originality of your bike against those examples found on the internet.
