These cans are still out there. I’m painting a black Corbin smuggler to match my signal red roadster. Took a bit of unplugging, but with a little acetone in the nozzle it finally freed up. It’s taking more time to dry than usual, but I’m only interested in the color. High gloss catalyzed clear will go on top.

I'm surprised they are still pressurized and spray.

At first nothing came out. These had a plug from dried paint at the top of the can. I removed the sprayer a put a couple of drops of acetone in the hole. Pushed the spray head and rotated several times until some thick paint started coming out. Once the plug was clear it sprayed fine. Got the smuggler lid done so far. Need to sand with 1000 dry/wet then clear coat.

I can't believe you devalued those priceless artifacts by actually using them!
They could have been in a museum, but they're worthless now.
I just hope you showed them more respect than those guys did un-crating that Commando recently.

Kidding... 🤡

Great find though!
Slightly more seriously - how's the colour match?

Perhaps even make a video about un-crating the paint!
Get a couple of buddies to stand around and make random comments. Like, "Why does the word colour have a U in it?"
And make random guesses as to how to pronounce "Villiers". And "This must be French paint!"
Stuff like that.

The cans empty can still be donated to a museum. Like the car one in southwest Ontario that has a booth in it for old motorbikes , oil cans and the like .They have a 69 Commando in it unrestored and a bit rusty .The cans would look good on the shelf above it .

You are in California but if ever visiting Southern Ontario bring the cans to donate to :
Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village , Kingsville , Ontario . This place is super cool , many priceless restored American cars etc . Many donated by wealthy industrialist families . I recall looking up and under the 69 gas tank to see if it was the widowmaker frame and yes it was ..

Tone is pretty good, but dries to a satin. Definitely needs a clear coat.

A activated 2 pack clear coat spray can or better still apply coats of clear with a spray gun would deffiently enhance the finish

That's the stuff!
I preserved all my original black under that 2K. (Thread here somewhere). Even a matte finish sands and buffs out very deep glossy clear.

Turned out the factory spray paint goes on fine, but a second coat makes the base wrinkle. After a search VW tornado red is a match for Norton signal red. I used Duplicolor touch up in the VW color as a base with above clear final. I’m quite happy with the result here.
