That's a pretty good little film. Some of the passes on the expressway at the begining looked pretty dodgy to me. I can see where some of the pics & icons used by several folks on this forum came from.

They left out the best sonic part in the tunnel. Not to worry mates' there's a good long tunnel Wes and I ride through to fill in the echos missing here.

Took 3 days leave and went up to NYC, I was in the family van though :(...still it was good to get back in the city. Cool videos! thanks, Cj

Lab, It's been a while since I was in London (back in the 70's & 80's) but I can't rember what the zig-zag lines are for in your video (around the 2:02 min.mark).

Pedestrian crossing markings.

You MUST NOT park on a crossing or in the area covered by the zig-zag lines. You MUST NOT overtake the moving vehicle nearest the crossing or the vehicle nearest the crossing which has stopped to give way to pedestrians.

Thanks Lab, So if you get caught splitting the lanes/ or passing cars in the zig-zag marked portion of the lane near the crosswalk, then they "gotcha" sooo.... what's the fine for that...never mind it's off topic, Thanks again Cj

I don't honestly know what the fine would be?
UK traffic offences do not always carry fixed penalty fines but the offender would get at least 3 points on his/her driving licence-if convicted.

Ah memories, I've met Tamara Beckwith on a few occasions!!

The filtering through London traffic is a little tame compared to my despatching days too!! I remember going through the Euston underpass at 100+ during rush hour between 2 lanes of stationary traffic !!!

On the zig zag lines, you'll only generally get done if you pass the front vehicle at the pedestrian crossing when there is stationary traffic......and there's a copper around!!

No one who wants to live would do that in SoCal. Drivers "wander" all over the lane and only check traffic after they initiate a move if they bother to look at all. We have plenty of drivers recently immigrated from non-motoring nations and the moves get pretty wild. Left turns from right lanes and the reverse have now become typical.

Even native Californians have become very complacent. The last thing we do while driving is to pay attention to the road or traffic situation. There is no depression for a good body & fender man.

Several weeks ago I saw a mother with a mini van full of kids get on the 22 freeway and cross 5 lanes of traffic without ever looking once. She was too busy yelling at the kids. The rest of us cleared out of her way or else!

I was last in London in 1984 and was very impressed by the polite, skilled but press on driving style. I felt right at home!

Yes me too a few times in the 80's and quite agree - tight rules in tight place for purposeful paces. Too bad the whole place is on video surveillance now. The video I watched above shows a step through scooter not a real motorcycle. Scooters can take a bit more slide colliding w/o knocking knee caps off.

He he great LAB! I enjoyed the way he jumped off to move the cardboard box! This is the sort of reason some folk say 'loud pipes save lives'- all those dozy box pilots can hear you coming and some of them get out your way. Very necessary to make sure your mirrors stick out more than your handlebars...

I must say as a 2 wheeled commuter in SE London this didn't look too bad. It's doing this sort of thing at 70mph on the M25 with 14 bikes behind you all wanting to get past- and going too fast to take most of the sideways gaps- that really concentrates the mind- battleship in a canal is a phrase that springs to mind-and questions if a 1975 Norton is really a good choice...then its amazing the animosity that comes out from the normally close knit 2 wheeled community

Can you believe doing this and having another bike behind you on his air horns because he really wants that space you're in....
