Norton trouble

Or Zongshen just keep using the name. Best of luck challenging them on that front to stop them.
Problems all around it seems, what a mess, administrators and a bank that don't understand Norton are effectively bailing out a sinking ship slower than the water is coming in. They have one hell of job on their hands.

Hence if your bike is at the factory get it out now, the administrators will be overloaded and will have little interest in past customers and any bike on site is a potential asset for sale.

Really astonishing that SG survived another 7,5 years after I had read this. Fortunately I had already bought and received my Commando 961 from Fritz W. Egli just 3 months before following was published:

With my brand new MK II engine I hope to have many miles to go...
One interesting graphic of SGs dictatorships from above article:
Norton trouble

Would be at least one more “in administration” note by now...

Don’t feel you need to share but I was aware of your next bike order, and when all this broke i was really hoping you hadn’t made a full up front payment. Hope it’s ok for you.

TWO THOUSAND POUNDS DEPOSIT........NO,...NOT CREDIT CARD.......Seems so sad to see these beautiful bikes in this video... ps, that's me in the custom classic t shirt...lol
Interesting that the norton guy quoted the superlight weight as 180kg dry....funny that fast eddie eh..........

The Norton Motorcycles Ltd website finally has a note about all being in administration.
Strange how long these new fangled things can take to update.

Sorry to hear that Al, not great news at all. Great video that and thanks for posting. Think I was there on that day (Tuesday?) I had a great chat with Tom too, you don’t forget a moustache like that.

As gutted as I am about the apparent demise of Norton, it doesn’t change my plans for ownership. The bike is a keeper and I don’t care if it’s worth less or more in the long run. I guess that we’ll just have to be resourceful if (read when) our bike breaks down! Long live Norton.

Al, you never know the admins may be sitting on some built superlights and could give you an option to proceed with the purchase. Running or not that could be a viable investment opportunity.

Salesman Ray emailed me in january saying that mcguinness' n todds' race superlights were for sale if i wanted one....they would be converted for road use and cost £45k each....i said no thanks ....

As for prices tanking... yes but ONLY if there is a flood of nervous sellers or folk in desperate need to get rid. If sellers can hold out then there is no need for resale prices to drop too much.

totally agree ...i won't be sellin mine off 'cheap'... it's too bloody good !
Likewise I will not be selling ,but the bigger picture reveals Norton and others would have had only 15 years to go before we all go electric!!!

I thought I’d seen that bike b4 , here it is in Norton factory showroom October 2017, certain it’s a one off , used in fashion clothing shoots with Norton clothing , pretty sure it was one never to be sold ! So now it’s ended up in a Yorkshire bike dealer s hands ?? Plot thickens https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F324050647919View attachment 14212View attachment 14213
It’s back on eBay now with another dealer for £11k! Don’t sell your norton guys, they’re increasing by the £1000’s a week!

I remember that when BSA and Norton Villiers Triumph went belly-up the prices of these bikes plummeted, So dont count your chickens before they hatch. The prices eventually went up, but that was many years later. The current Norton owners may stick to what they have, but potential bike buyers will likely shop elswhere.
To own a Norton today ,one must have more than average technical aptitude, and enthousiam for the brand, most bikers today seem to have neither.

£10K without warranty, £11K serviced, 12 month MOT and 1 month warranty extendable to 12 months.

Even still, then have to negotiate distribution rights for each global area. Pointless, unless all TM's are owned by the manufacturer.

So is there a dispute over TM (again)?? Deja vu. I haven't had the time to read every posting in this tread, but got the impression Metro Bank now owns the TM's? Please recap.
