Reverse the energy that caused it.Whats the best way to straighten my Commando swing arm it has a 1/4 inch twist? spindle fits perfect in bushes
Check the right hand end...the bush in the kickstart quadrant......they wear and allow the layshaft to thrash about! Thanks, I'll put the swing arm in my press and straighten her out. I'm rebuilding the gearbox and Isolastics I don't know how the swing arm got bent just bought the bike. When I took the gearbox apart because of a funny clunck, when in third gear, the lay shaft came out in halves at the third gear? Origjnal layshaft roller bearing with nice tight fit in main case. Any thoughts? good jokes are accepted HAHA
If the drive side of the swing arm was bent down.....previous owner was having too much fun with too much power. It goes along with the gearbox broken layshaft. Wheelies, burn outs and excess stress are not friendly to a gearbox originally designed for engines with 25 or less horsepower. Any signs of a supercharger having been fitted at some time? Thanks, I'll put the swing arm in my press and straighten her out. As swinging armes were assembled in one or more jig(s) and subjected to quality control after assembly, a doubt there was a twist in fresh manufactured samples.I suspect many left the factory like that.
