I'm importing a 75 John Player (which I'm told hasn't been touched). I haven't owned a Norton since 1980 (750 combat) and a forgotten most of what I knew about them - other than the great rides. Can anyone recommend an enthusiast in the northern suburbs that I can use as a security blanket when I start it up? Its due in Perth in the next few weeks.

FullAuto on here is from Perth. He might be able to point you in the right direction.

This is the FB link for Murray Chamberlain:

You could also shout out to the Perth Norton community for help. A whole pile of dirty and smelly enthusiasts (sorry fellas) will turn up to help. 50 Commandos recently gathered for a photo shoot so there are a few about. PM and I can assist.

Murray's work is first class. I sent a 650SS head across from Canberra and he did a beautiful job on the exhaust ports. I think the folk of Perth are very fortunate to have him there.

Murray is one of the best Norton guys around, he gets my vote. Murray repaired & re-aligned my 71 frame and saved it from the scrap heap.

Thanks for all the feedback. Norton enthusiasm is certainly allive in Perth! The bike I have bought is a one owner silver mk2a JPN which I am told is one of a handfull that was exported to Europe (in this case Holland) when they couldn't sell them in the UK. I have heard of these anecdotally but can't find any historical info to support this colour. Has anyone else heard of these?
