Can't help with someone to help, sorry, not in that part of the world.

But the owners manual contains a page or 2 at the back on general troubleshooting.
Always good to go through the basics before calling for help, can save lots of time, and $$.

Got fuel.
Got spark
Got compression, when you kick it over ?

You don't say that year or model, but does the battery need to be charged and good for it to start ?
Does it need choking, and your choke system work.
Does the carb tickle with fuel when you try.
Does the ignition light come on when you switch it on (if it has a switch).

1st thing to ALWAYS do when not starting is to try replacing the spark plug(s) with NEW ones.

Does your bike have a magneto, or points, or an electronic ignition ?
Another possible source of problems - and treating then requires different procedures.

Isn't there a very active club in that region - the Oregon Vintage, or something like that.
Hopethishelps, abit.

P.S. This could have been posted legit in the 'other Nortons' area. Or Commando if its a Commando....

I believe it's a Commando, so the topic has been moved.

Give our ex-internet annoyance Doug Townsend a ping as his circle includes likes of Kenny Deer and Amerian Norton prototypes collection and Sir Eddie and son salt licker and active in restoring POS by directing the basket cases to good restorers. Dough n Linda lmcguire@ccgmail.net
