Norton Nemesis rebuild

Really enjoying this thread. Thanks for posting it.
For whatever reason I thought the Nemisis V8 ran longitudally.
I apparently confused it with this.

I have watched with rapt fascination Alan's progress. The big end bearing shells are troubling. The damage looks like oil starvation. The cylinder head cooling is another area where his has improved on the design. I wounder if he is going to remake that horrible exhaust system? This is a great video series.

Another educational vid. Not every guy would admit to putting a crank in backwards. Just shows how even the best can make a mistake sometimes.
 
If this is going to Bonneville, he better have Charlie Weaver with him in case some expert advice is needed.

Interesting man. I'd let him in my garage. He uses the same assembly lube I use.
 
I noticed he didn’t use assembly lube when he re-installed the crank though. (maybe it didn’t need more).
 
Anyone interested in taking bets on whether or not the Nemesis will make a first pass at Bonneville without issue?

It's not really going to Bonneville is it? More like a museum where it can stand still in a peaceful existence.
 
I don't think motorcycles like standing still in a peaceful existence. At least that's what I believe.

I believe the plan is both ie Bonneville first then retire to the museum.

IIRC the record they’re aiming for is around 100 years old !

So, one would assume it’s quite beatable with such a machine.

I’d therefore hope they deploy a sensible strategy of doing ‘enough’ to take the record whilst minimising risks.

Then, once the record is in the bag, really see what they can do!

I hope they go, it’ll be exciting to follow.
