Norton Model 7 1953 NON STARTER

In answering all your questions, first and foremost I'm a true believer in the principle " that if it aint broke don't play it", if it plays up again I'll do exactly what all of you have suggested. I really don't have any time to waste working on serviceable motorcycle. The reason it took three days to free the taper was that I did the bolt up and I didn't want it to come loose again(I can be a tad heavy handed at times).
Johnm, what a race, blew #212 away although you must have buttoned off a bit has did gain on you towards the end of the race. I love the historic racing, but the historic scene here in NSW is almost non existent. Melbourne (PI) is where all old bikes race these days and Broadford, I'm machine examiner with the PCRA and they go down to Period 5.
For your info I have the following bikes:
1925 Douglas CW350
1948 Royal Infield J2 500cc
1953 Norton Model 7 Dommie
1971 Triumph 650 Bonnie
1971 BSA B25ss fitted with 441 engine, and several others.

Ah - should have said that was my bike but not me riding!!

The guy who finished second on 212 is Chris Swallow (bike is a Velo Venom belonging to a friend of mine). The following year Chris got two seconds in the Manx GP. His dad is Bill Swallow who has won the Manx about 9 times. The guy on my bike was Tony McQueen. Tony is getting a bit older now but in the old days in Ozzie production racing he had beaten Aron Slight. So no way am I as good as those guys.
