Norton in the news

I just received the latest issue of US News & World Report. It lists the 10 best places to retire in the US. One is Lawrence KS. The picture with the article shows a retiree with a Norton T shirt. The picture and article are also online. It's a little blurry online but perfectly clear in the printed copy.

Don't mean to sound un-neighborly, but Kansas is flat, windy, straight roads with sand on every corner, bugs, hot in Summer and freezing in Winter. Uninhabitable. lots of critters with great sharp fangs and bands of roving Injuns lusting for blood and pure womenfolk.
There, that should keep people from the Coasts from thinking of coming here and bringing their silly urban ideas with them.
(Of course, I'm a reactionary-I ride 35-40 year old obsolete motorbikes, for Crissake! And not because they're a status symbol!)

I think it's too late for that, Mike. I can clearly see in the photo a sign that says "Gourmet Coffee". Surely the Range Rover and Audi dealerships cannot be far behind! :shock: :lol:

OTOH, looking at the housing prices, perhaps I should move there! 8)

I think you're right-I heard rumors of a Star-something coffee place within a couple hours' drive of home! What's next? Pet spas and personal shoppers??!!?? And yes, I didn't mention the low wage base here. To top it all off there's some goober in the middle of the State that's trying to buy up ALL the Brit bikes! Don't you just hate those greedy bistages!!?? :lol:
Lawrence always has been an anomoly in KS, though. The rest of us just try to overlook it and Topeka. :roll:
