Lovely work on the bike. I've never had a blue Commando, but you make them look pretty desireable.

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but, if you wanted a bit of overkill, you could do gold leaf. This is what I did to my old Interstate back in the late '70s. A bit gaudy, but fun. The bike eventually mad it's way through several owners and ended up in Australia where it was restored back to original condition and appearance.



I seem to have been enamoured with oversize gold leaf logos back then. This is a shot of my production racer in green and gold leaf livery. For the purists among us, I did eventually go back to the original yellow. In fact, the bike was eventually restored by a friend of mine, and is now in a local collectors hoard.

In its current form the bike is a candy red Interstate, and the metalflake just wouldn't look right at all!



It was originally a Roadster, and it's only taken me 2 years and 3 attempts to get the blue how I wanted it :roll: - having the input from more knowledgeable forum members has been a great help.

I'm not sure if they ever did the Mk IIA in this colour, but there are certainly a few around now :wink:

Hopefully I'll get the tinware swapped over tomorrow, and I'll get a couple of daylight shots - this blue never seems to photograph very well, but I think it's pretty close to the original Fireflake Royal Blue - a friend has an 'S' with the original colour still in evidence, so I'll call by and do a comparison.

According to the parts book kindly provided by L.A.B. the MkIIA was available in 'FF Royal Blue', so it's 'historically correct'... for what it's worth :wink:
