Norton Gearbox Bushes 1st gear layshaft

Changing the bushes in my 1970 Norton Commando gearbox, first time since had bike, owned since 77. The new layshaft 1st gear bushing rotates in the gear is this OK? I am aware that the bushes in the mainshaft 2nd gear and layshaft 3rd gear should rotate. Skid

1st gear/layshaft bush IS captive in gear.
Sounds like your 1st gear is toast or the NEW bush is defective. TIme to measure....

Thanks....suspect the bushes as old one was good fit...bought new bush in gearbox rebuild kit from RGM Norton motors...will measure

Surprise ....the new bushes are 0.002" undersized
