i just restored a 750. The matching numbers are 148439. Looking at Norton numbers I’m thinking it falls in a different category. I thought the bike to be a 71. Am I correct in assuming the numbers fall in the production racer category ?

Just looking at the frame numbers or serial numbers on the Norton chart. 141783 to 145183 are 71 750 commandos then 145183 to 20000 are listed as production racers, which didn’t mean much except 12 more hp

Ah, the Norvil 'list' if it can be called that as so much detail is missing it is misleading!

Just looking at the frame numbers or serial numbers on the Norton chart. 141783 to 145183 are 71 750 commandos

"141783" is supposed to be first Fastback MkIII.
There was no actual Roadster MkIII (Roadster going from MkII to MkIV).

then 145183 to 20000 are listed as production racers,

What it says is.....:

"145183 1971 750 Production Racer"

.....and means "145183" was a Production Racer of which only approximately a hundred or so PRs were built over a 2-3 year period so it doesn't literally mean all Commandos from 145183 were PRs.
