I am planning on having a support bar welded onto the frame of my norton. i am planning on having it attached on the two main down tubes, where would be the best precise spot for this? pics would be nice too. thanks

Re: Need Help, Opinions with Norton frame

Peel, had a fairly thin wall tube welded ~8-9" above the top
iso mount tab. Its only 1/2" OD for trim look and plenty
rigid. Rather common addition.

At the time, before rear linkage corner testing,
I though that would be best spot - dividing tubes
run about equally >
Still do - If It Was Not An Isolastic Commando.

Now I've seen where the corner loads focus - the
front iso's slap the tabs, which can twist down tubes enough
to add their springing to hinged onset.
Now I think is wiser to weld down lower closer to where
more twist stress is straining.

Just use mild steel thin tube like the frame and any shop
even muffler place can weld it up.

Frame tubes are rather thin so can burn through if done
crudely.

When I took Peel frame down to power coat I
discovered - she had what appeared to be breast buds??
Its always been an Arkansas bike, past crash on crash bars
explains the welded over slightly bulged sections.

Note low rear cross brace and stud for rod end,
plan ahead if a linkage planned back there.
