Someone is selling a used Norris NRP 225 racing camshaft. Says it fits a Norton Atlas or early 750 Commando.
Does anybody know anything about these?
Are they streetable?
How would it compare to a stock camshaft?

Thanks,

For $25, buy it and try it and tell us. !
Has to be early Commando though.

A quick google shows that Norris Barsumian of Norris Cams passed away suddenly in 2008. Formerly of Isky cams.
Megacycle seem to have bought em out at some point, but some part of the business is still going ?

The valve lift of .534 is more than a full race cam, which was .500 thou, the crankcases will have to be relived for it fit :!:
or is that for a Chevy V8 :?:

The current Norris Performance Products is run by Chuck Baronian (sp?), the son of Norris Baronian, who started Norris Cams way back when. I don't know how active the shop is now, but it is still going, it's only for cars. Norris Barsumian was the one who ran the motorcycle side of the business. He eventually sold that part of it to Megacycle, who have all the old Norris cam designs. They only list a couple of the old Norris Norton grinds in their catalogue, but they have been known to produce some of the others. I don't know if they are still willing to do that. You'd have to talk to Barbara at Megacycle to see if she would be willing to dig up the info on the cam you have. On a good day, she might, but I wouldn't count on it. On a bad day, she can be a bit short with callers :P

I called Megacycle, and talked to her. She was nice enough to talk to the man in charge, who said he couldn't be bothered to help me.

Sorry to hear that. The man in charge is Barbara's husband, and he is kept pretty busy. He's usually pretty helpful, if you manage to talk to him. The 1976 Norris catalog I have doesn't mention this grind, so it must be a later one. Maybe someone else will chip in with more info.

I've talked to Norris a decade+ ago and they were long out of the motorcycle cam business so just automotive supply now.
