Thanks a lot! Good job and good idea re: how to adjust stator to rotor gap (far better that struggling whith 3 gauges sticking to the rotor).

The pic shows the plastic shim material/instructions that Alton supplies with the kit so there is no need for a ferrous metal feeler gauge and, as shown, the material goes all the way around so it's very easy to just install the shim material and lock down the stator. Also - the current kit includes a starter relay; in reading the account, it sounds as if this kit did not. Was this an early kit?

I am referring to a bosch relay, for additional switch protection. Very low current draw. It is the small black box right in the middle of the pic, and the text mentions switch, relay, and solenoid to give definition.

Thanks for the post, is there room in there for a belt drive instead of the primary chain?

Yes, definitely.
There is only one standard kit, and it is used for both belt or chain drive applications. It includes the chain drive spacer, and a spacer that is suitable for the Norvil belt drive. Other belt drive types can be accommodated by means of a suitable spacer. Not all manufacturers have been forthcoming with specs( a work in progress), but Alton will supply the necessary spacer free of charge once dimensions have been supplied. Or, skills and equipment allowing, you could always custom machine spacers as necessary yourself. Given recent owner install errors, always seek professional advice and services as required.
