Been lurking for a while, joined and lurked some more. Figured I would go ahead and check in 'cause I can foresee some questions coming. I've talked with some friendly folks over PM and have gained a lot of knowledge from you all thus far. The Commando is my first "classic" bike so we will see where it takes me.

Thanks.

Scott

Welcome on board. Might as well figure out how to post a photo and get busy with those questions! We need some new stuff to talk about anyway.

Welcome.
My 72 combat was my first classic, purchased about three years ago. It was in the basket.
Is your head "C" stamped?
Looking forward to reading your post of progress.

Welcome.
Feel free to ask questions.
Most of us here like a chance to practice offering advice.
Some pictures and adding where you live to your ID would be nice.

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm a dumb kid from the country so I'm not much on posting pictures, but will try at some point.

I'm not sure if it's a true Combat, it has all the components of one (haven't had the head steady off to check for the "C") and 203,000 serial number range but who knows...

Thanks again and I'll be hitting you up soon.

Welcome to the forum.

You'll have a blast with your Norton, and learn a lot in this place.

Welcome! Nice avatar, now I've got Lt. Barry Sadler's "Green Beret's" song stuck in my head. www.photobucket.com for image hosting. The Commando has been a very fullfilling endeavor. Hope you enjoy the experience as well

welcome, theres a wealth of good info here. Im hoping to ride mine to the barbara fritchie race in frederick july 4 if youd like to meet up.

Howdy Scott we all like fresh meat to BBQ. Commandos may be the most crazy making and manhood testing motorcycle ever created for real, only surpassed by the fiction kennel of Spragthrope's. Review the initial forum post of how to post pictures and get the reference material listed for best scope of DIY scope of aids. A fully fettered Commando is a hard goal to reach and then maintain but the sense of joy leaving the everyday world behind is second to none.

I'd agree with that

Thanks again guys. I do look forward to riding and improving what I can of the bike. I feel like I'm getting a grip on some things. I'm smarter on diesels than these gassers, actually these bikes are the only gas vehicles I own. I'm a little hesitant to go tearing into this bike compared to others in the past. Then again, it's kind of like my first injection pump. After the first one, the rest weren't a big deal.
