NOCNZ 2021 Rally

Hi David,
I haven't made any bookings, or even sent my entry off yet , but my loose plan is to head down a few days early and join Murray M and his crew on their pre rally run. After the rally i will be visiting family for a couple of days further Sth before heading home.
If the run Sth sounds like it will work i can pm my mobile and we can firm things up.
I'm on the Cambridge side of Hamilton.
Cheers
Iain.

Yeah, I havent made any bookings yet either. So, a one day blast down to the ferry and overnight in Picton and then meet up with Murray the next day?

Yes that was the thought. I’ll have a look at dates tomorrow and get back.

i'll send you photo's :), unless we all go into lock down.

1600 kilometers. Including 30km of rough logging roads crossing streams and scrambling loose rock and The Dirt. 20 kph turn from asphalt into the last road before camp. Pea gravel and oil.

One bone. 5 pieces.

Bike faired pretty good, considering. I padded its fall with my left leg to save the tank from damage. I could feel the leg start to get warm before a guy followin me pulled it off of me.

Scratched exhaust, broken brake lever, broken speedo bezel and glass, broken mirror, front fender and helmet are road rashed.tank is fine.

Air miles paid my way home.

Crashing at the Norton rally. Priceless.

Dave good to hear that you got home Ok, will keep fingers crossed that you have a favourable report from your GP etc.

Home at last. 3000km for the trip.
Oil was midway L - H when i left and just on low tonight, don't know why i carried the spare litre :).
The tools were only out to tighten a mirror and adjust the chain
Apart from a worn chain no obvious issues, just a mountain of crud to remove.

Hope the recovery is going well David.

A little bit of maths tonight, Oamaru to Balclutha and back and fuel economy was 63mpg (Her Majesty's gallons of course). Inlcudes 300+ metres of climb over each of the Kilmog and either Mt Cargill or the Motorway. Not bad for a fully laden beast with lardy pilot aboard.

And a PW3 with Keihins

Those FCR's are up with a single Mikuni for fuel economy, without being strangled at high revs. ;)

Your Real Commando did well, Iain. ;)
Looking good, that picture, about time for us to get back down there.
Where was the rally? Eset on my pc blocks the NOCNZ website.
Gortnipper, hope you'll be allright again soon.
Cheers, Bennie.

Hi Bennie,

Looks like we will start getting our vaccine in July, all going well. So hopefully NZ will start opening up to the world later in the year.
Next years rally will be a bit Nth of Hamilton probably early March again, so just a short ride next time. :(
Plenty of room here in Hamilton if you do get down this way.

cheers
Iain.
