That "distributor" diagram isn't correct for the Lucas points as it shows items in the wrong order and with the "wire from coil" and "breaker arm spring" in contact with the "attaching bolt" which neither must be.

Correct diagram, below, showing the ring terminal adjacent to the spring.

No spark at plugs

The common mistake is for the ring terminal to be fitted directly beneath the nut which grounds the wire.
Okay, I couldn't find the proper view like you have here; I just wanted to try to make the point that the wire and spring need to be in contact with each other, and isolated from the frame. Thanks for supplying that image!

Sorry for the delay in replying. life happens. Some good news. Replaced the plugs and plug wires and now have spark at the plugs. I guess the moral of this story is to check the simple stuff first. Lesson learned. Thanks to everyone for the advice.

"The common mistake is for the ring terminal to be fitted directly beneath the nut which grounds the wire."

That common mistake would ISOLATE the wire from the contact breaker point (and it must be connected) using my logic....;)

It does isolate the wire from the contact breaker point but it also grounds the wire because the contact breaker post is attached to the points plate.
