Here's a quick attempt at a "HelmetCam". It was night so a bit too dark. At least you can hear her purr.

Weird line in the middle of the image.

Do you have turn signals? I "can't" ride here in the dark until I do.

Delicious sounding, only hope I can attain such perfection, even after dark.

Dave, the weird line is the bottom edge of my visor. I'll lift it higher on the next video attempt.

In Virginia you don't need signals on a pre-73 bike, especially if it didn't have them originally. This bike did not although it was listed as a factory option in '71 according to my research (I don't know first-hand because I didn't exist in 1971) . I don't mind hand signaling (highly ineffective at night) but signaling a right turn probably gets some strange looks from motorists thinking I'm waving at 'em!

They are not required here either for pre-73 except at night. And frankly I wouldn't want to ride at night without them, not with the over-abundance of idiots around here.

Wow! Thanks for that tasty sound bite. I closed my eyes and was transported thirty years back in time.

I've started looking into these helmet cameras. What camera are you using? From what I've read, getting the sound right is the hardest part so you're nearly there! It did sound sweet going through the gears.

Trade you your IDIOTS for my TOURONS (cross between a tourist and a moron) ANY DAY!!!

Anglophile- you may have started a trend here. Hearing the old girl purr is an inspiration to us all! :D We should get a sound byte thread going with all the varous Cdo's. 'Combat on full song', 'wheezing 850 MKIII shows its stuff', etc.

What d'ya think guys?

I just got the head back on my 850 this weekend so could soon offer 'Mk III start up and running in

I surprised myself with the limited wind noise. I used my iPhone and had it sitting in the inside front of my Arai helmet (lots of brand placement here  ). I used a piece of foam to hold the phone in place. I think the helmet along with the foam buffered out the wind noise. Lucky try, I guess. I'll try again in the daytime so a decent video should follow sometime soon.

Dude
That was great!!!
I loved the pea shooters sounding off in every gear.
My 72 combat purrs like that I'm told by the BMW and Triumph riders who are often behind me
Nice to hear it from a viewers perspective.
You did great managing the wind as other have stated.
If you speedo reads same as mine she got right up to 70mph w/o a hitch after the right turn onto the hiway.
Thanks for sharing.
If Batrider gets a camera will post some Bucks County scenery

Saweeet sounding indeed.
Soon we can hear the Junebugs impacting the visor with sound resolution like this.
Excellent first attempt.

Wait till you get the stink bugs. Boy they are hard and leave a big grease spot too. I can hear them smack onto the windows in the house. You should have some of those in FX by now.

We've had plenty! The helmet visor works well against those demons.

Its kind of spooky from a camera point of view but I love riding at night. The sound you got is awesome! I heard what my MK3 sounds like for the first time when I made a short film a while back. Holy crap it sounded amazing. From the riders position all I hear are the valves clanking away  .

I've gotta join the chorus here, the sounds on that video were great. I already have Norton Fever just working on my old beast and now it is in full fervor. Thanks for posting it.
