Hello all. I have been a Norton guy since 1972 and have owned about 10 Nortons. I currently have 2 Atlas's and 2 Commandos, and happily now a 2015 961 Sport. I am told this is the bike that was used for the Cycleworld road test and was sold to me by Indian MC of Orange county Ca. Great deal on the bike with 1000 demo miles on it. Arrived with a few minor issues but they have been great with resolving them. First I wonder if anyone else in Arizona has one of these new Nortons? I would like to hear from them if so. This bike arrived to me with several ounces of oil in the air box and a full oil collection bottle. My first ride on a warm Az day resulted in some idle and tach issues that have since resolved. The idle fluctuated between 1800 and 2200 at regular brief intervals. To my surprise the tach jumped up and reset it's zero at 9000, but resolved once turned off and restarted. After I discovered the air box oil and renoved it this problem has not recurred. Probably unrelated? My rides since have been without problem and very enjoyable. Having ridden both Harleys and Ducatis and many other brands the engine noise and vibration do not bother me. I do note that there has been some oil seepage around the exhaust ports from the head gaskets. I would love to receive whatever service files could be sent to me at jfahlberg@aol.com . I will stay involved in this discussion group and am grateful for it. I know Norton is a new company and I suspect has little linkage to the old Norton company, but I really feel like I'm riding a genuine Norton again. Thanks , John

Forgot to mention about the head re-torque after the first 1,000 miles . If this has not been completed , get this done asap.

Hi and welcome. Congratulations on your 961. Frankly, and hate to be the nudge, I think Indian MC has a lot of nerve selling you an unprepared and unsorted bike like that. They've had 2 years and 1000 miles to sort these issues. That said, once sorted, these bikes are tons of fun. Stay on top of them to keep the bike sorted. If you need parts, I've found emailing Callum Doyle at the Norton factory to be the most efficient way. He replies quickly and sends parts right out. Usually takes 4 days to get to NY. The dealerships are still mostly catering to the established money makers.
