I have several bikes, however finally got around to the Norton that was on my wish list. Brought it home last weekend.
1975 Norton 850 Commando Roadster MKIII , in the JP paint scheme . 1,750 miles . Mostly all original. Runs and rides awesome,
no oil leaks, very nice bike.
So I'm now reading and reading to educate myself on the ins and outs of these bikes. Plenty to do as far as clean up, maintanence and so forth but I'll enjoy every minute.
I'll try to keep the stupid questions that I'll be asking to a minimum .
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Let me the first to say welcome and hope you enjoy your new ride, I have owned my Norton for over 40 years now and I still get a big smile on my dial every time I ride it, anyway a lot of good folks here that will anwser any questions you may have.

Hey, I'm close by in Six Mile, near Clemson. I too have a Mk3 that I bought new 41 years ago. I'll be glad to help any way I can. I take mine out several times a week just for the fun of it.

Give me an email or pm anytime.

Woo-hoo! Another noob! It's great to see another in the ranks. Welcome, and, if you would be so kind, please chime in on youngest-and-oldest-t24769-180.html#p328425 to help fill out our age chart.

Next (or before), create a Photobucket account so as to share pictures with the crew. We all dig on pictures! See technical-information-how-post-photos-t2357.html about three-quarters of the way down for directions on how to do this. While you're there, that page contains a bunch of great info and links.

I have a shop manual, and the parts replacement manual. Are there other manuals or books that would help me get up to speed?
Some of the aftermarket manuals are good some stink, leaving out important info.

Welcome to the forum!

I personally would like to see a photo of your '75 Honda 550, you can post it in the "other bikes" section...

I have a big Clymer manual circa 1975 that covers some details that the factory manual doesn't. In my experience, Clymer stuff was geared for the DIY shade tree mechanic, not for the pros.

well here goes,
my first attempt at including a photo from photo bucket,,,,,,,,,,,
