Actually in 69 it was known as just the Commando. The Fastback name only came in after they started producing other models like the S, R, Roadster and the 70 Fastback. So I would call it a pre-Fastback. That front mudguard looks a bit suspicious. http://www.classicbike.biz/Norton/Broch ... ochure.pdf

Not trying to be picky, but we aren't in 1969 anymore. I think you and I would love to travel back in time to that period and then I would agree with you without questions. Man what I would do if I could go back in time, I would mothball a few Nortons for sure and buy all the land I could lay my hands on.

Fastbacks are the best looking Commandos IMOHO, timeless styling.

Based on the engine number and the badge model tank, you seem to have a '68 model, probably first titled in '69. Do you have the "widowmaker" frame or has it been replaced? If it is the early frame, I'd be replacing it before I rode it to the end of the drive!

It has the factory updated frame thanks for your concern. It is a early villiers baged model I did the math and I think the manufacture date was sometime mid year 1968 but its titled 1969.
