OK, It's the winter "down time" here in Illinois. I'm a sucker for all things bright + shiny, so I bit the bullet hard and ordered a set of Excel wm2 flanged rims and stainless spokes from Buchanan's. The original Dunlop rims were in good shape but the spokes were bent and tatty so what the hell... Life is short.
This isn't my first rodeo building wheels and these laced-up fairly easily and obviously thanks to the hole drilling angles in the rim.
Having the hubs "bare" was also a good opportunity to clean and polish them, especially the front spool hub ( gorgeous it is ).
I decided to ditch the "pie plate" from the rear hub because the hub casting is pretty nice looking by itself. As a bonus I now have a shiny aluminum Frisbee to throw at squirrels.
Oh, did I mention It helps having a friend with really nice truing stand with dual dial gauges.

Anyway, here's a few pics of the building process ( because I know how much you guys like pictures ).

Better keep that frisbee around awhile. Your feelings about it may change. I put mine back on, then off, then back on again.

Did you have fun with the front offset? It's crazy, just crazy how far over the sucker goes.

Ha!
Yeah, I never realized how far it was dished until I saw it with the disc removed. The disk-side spokes seem near vertical.
