do you have any pictures of some of the things you did to your bike? i'd be interested in seeing them.

Nope, he didn't take ANY pictures.

None. Nada. Zilch. :D

I tried to stay in the commando "era" (I.E. I used fastback ears, an s-model chainguard, s-model shocks, etc) but it's a good example of the fact that you can retrofit pretty much whatever you want to really give a "fresh" look on the original concept. Just my two cents. :)

It's coming along. Still a ways to go, I'm afraid.

I'm kind of jealous of those shorty mufflers. If I ever get a chance to pick up a set, I'm buying them. I'm sure I'll like my seamless set from CommandoSpecialties just fine, but those shorties give a real 'cafe' look, IMO and I think those might look good on my bike!

thanks, i kind of like the look of them also but have considered changing them out as i play around with the bike. if i do i'll let you know :D i have no idea yet who makes them. they are loud, even with the baffles but i've always been a fan of loud exhausts.

Hi dyi570 and welcome.
is the one you fitted an Atlas handlebar?

hi and thanks! no, the bars i mounted are just a cheap set of drag bars that i picked up on ebay. i decided i'd buy a cheap set and see if i like the feel before buying a nicer set. i have a lot of winding, back country roads around here and the short bars really make things fun. i thought about some clubmans or clip ons, but the drag bars didn't really require any modifications to the bike. no risers, shortened cables or anything else required and got the feel i wanted.

I do like those mufflers and loud is great. I already bought a brand new seamless set from CommandoSpecialties. Oops! ;)

third set of bars in less than two months, i think these are the keepers  i really like the feel of these and with the rear sets i don't feel so crunched up like i did with the straight bars. i also took everybody's advice after searching tire threads and put on some avon roadriders a couple nights ago. they feel totally different (in a good way) than the dunlop tt100's that were on it. i called the previous owner and he said that he put the dunlops on back in 89, so they were pretty hard although had tons of tread left. the road riders look a bit too modern in my opinion, but seems like an even trade off for the way it rides now.

i got C'doSpecialites silencers on a week ago and they sound pretty good and all smoothed over chrome but still not as slick and the constant tapper kind but 150 bux more for those helps the lines a lot.

I'd sure like to see a photo of you seated gripping these sexy droppy drag bars please.

i'm still not sure who makes the mufflers on my bike. i know they are a bit shorter than most i see, they sound good to me and plenty loud even with the baffles.

 although i'm not a fan of having my picture taken maybe i'll have my wife snap a shot of me with the bike this weekend. hopefully we'll have a nice dry day this weekend, i plan to take a break from the backroads and see how fast i can make this sucker go on a nice straight stretch

found another hidden surprise on my bike today under the points cover. is this a boyer set up? everytime i mess with this bike, i feel like i should have just given the previous owner his asking price instead of talking him down.

Yep, a Boyer. I opened up my combat points cover and saw the points plate and AAU but no wires. Then I pulled off the primary cover and found a Sebring ignition and Regulator/rectifier kit. You never know what's in there.
