New Norton dealerships…

Once again. “You”. You’re thinking of yourself. Most everyone is keeping them, but not “everyone”. And someday, they’ll all be sold or for sale.

Would you buy a 3-8 year old bike you can’t buy parts for? Many won’t.
Have I wandered onto the set of a bad Mel Brookes movie, or a good Monty Python sketch;)?

Great game though - you take my words “most of us” and change their content, meaning and context, to ‘you’ and “everyone’! Definitely a fun game, but you might want to let me know the rules as they’re not immediately apparent🤣 !

There are bikes out there from the big manufacturers that are 3-8 years old that you can't buy spares for. As for prices of the bikes, at the moment I don't think Solihull is anywhere near producing enough numbers to affect the prices of the older prices.

What other big brand of bike that’s 3-8 years old that you can’t buy new parts for?

Selling a used Donington 961 in Europe may bring ok money. But it’s a far different story here in the USA. Even trying to find a buyer in the used market for a 961 here is difficult. Unless you want to basically give it away.

The ones I’ve seen sold, sold for half of what I paid for my Commando SF in 2016.

I find it hard to imagine that unless a used Donington has very very low miles, or at a bargain price, that a potential buyer wouldn’t rather spend his money on a TVS Norton over a used Donington Norton. I’m speaking of a UK buyer where these options are more plentiful.

Parts.
Waranty
Improvements
Are all available for a TVS.

Just gave 'Oakmere' motor group a call in Northwich as they are now Norton dealers and closest to me. When you ring there is a list of extension numbers but non for Norton so I took a chance and rang the 'Morgan' number and a nice fella called Steve answered and as luck would have it he was the right man to speak to. He told me they haven't got a demo bike in at the moment but were expecting to be up and running within a few weeks (or so) and would give me a call back asap..................how many times have we heard that from someone at the other end of a phone, well I will just wait and see and I will keep you informed how good the 'New' Norton system works.

Things keep coming back to me after my factory visit. Dean reckoned there will be 16 dealers nationwide by the end of the year. One dealer in particular has such confidence in the brand they have placed a very large order.

Took my Indian for a service and MOT today in Northampton. Having a chat and discovered they are becoming a dealer within the next week or so.

Good news, may have some company in Northants soon for an occasional ride out, I seem to be the only one in the county. Still plan on having any work done by Stu at Motorvated

Well, when I go full time....I'll be pushing for a BSA franchise, sorry guys 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣
Irrespective of what you think of the actual machines BSA seem to have their marketing act coming together - you can buy branded gear, they have a presence at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull...

There is talk about setting up UK 'manufacturing' possibly in the Midlands even. They could do worse than emulate RE's progress.

Just reading through some press - there seems to be a commitment to use the BSA brand for a range of electric bikes. You haven't started to develop unnatural urges towards these abominations of nature have you Stu? (Energica exempted)

I just spotted this on their careers page...

"We are looking to further expand our sales team, this exciting opportunity for a Retail Manager who will be based out of our new Norton boutique within Shoreditch, London. For this key role you will be working with one of the market’s most exciting growing British luxury motorcycle brands."
Hi Cliffa,
Not sure what I’m doing on this forum as I’m an old Commando rider but one word in the advertisement caught my eye, ’Boutique’.
When I was a young lad in a less gender fluid world the word Norton and Boutique never occurred in the same sentence unless you were picking your girlfriend up from the boutique where she worked. Bike shops were dingy places packed with bikes for sale with a dusty parts counter at the back inhabited by an old tradesman in a grey duster coat who remembered every part no. of every British bike. For Australians readers, think Jim Eade’s or George Heggie😉

Back in those days the Norton was a comparatively priced motorcycle with equal performance for the near same price point as other brands of the time. Not today.

Today it’s 2 times the price and 2/3rds the hp.
It’s definitely a boutique brand.

Oh! Let’s not forget, even Norton doesn’t know it’s own part numbers lol
