Yes I did the whole retorque procedure several times. This engine has aluminium barrels which I thought was the source of the problem. Turns out when annealing the gasket it is possible to leave a hard spot in the copper and this will throw off the torque as there is a soft spot immediately adjacent. The gasket was actually floppy when it was installed. I used that dental floss procedure (thank you Jim ) and there are no oil leaks

Is that a bit that didn't get red hot? I guess soft with hard spots could be worse than all hard.

I was recoiled so bad on the initial corpse I didn't continue till bored just now to tighten groin on rotted upper floors that indeed may may not take even a little jostle more.

Crankshaft is a lot better sight as is the finished hybrid. Don't guess you can get away with hi Balance Factor in these offset cranks and why we hear about balance shafts in the moderns. This Geoff's work should be posted in the crankshaft porn one.

Informative power character report to chew on too. It sure is pretty for what ya started with. Did ya get a tetanus shot too?

Hi Norsa

Fantastic build :D

I will look for a photograph I have of Pete the paints Bsa framed Commando.
Pete always liked the Beeza frame & made up a third iso for his bike.
He painted it black with Norton gold transfers on the tank. I know it had Seeley double sided single leading brake. Seem to remember it had a Quaife box.
Remember Pete wetting himself when he came out of Brits & pieces his local Brit parts shop & seeing a bloke scratching his head cos Petes Commando was "lower" than his.

Sweet bike.

Chris

Hows the steering/handling/roadholding performance? Say, compared with a featherbed?
