Hello all, just joined the forum after buying this bike
New member

Its an ex race bike, built and raced in France
Came across this forum when I was trying to find out about the Luchier front brake, this was the only place where anyone knew about it!

Welcome and nice find!

This is a great place to find information on all things Norton and then some.

Welcome,

I've seen a couple of topics dealing with that front brake here, including photos, etc.

There are also MANY threads regarding the venerable "featherbed" chassis, and the roadholder forks.

Nice fine and welcome, in the pic it looks like the frame and oil tank has been chromed or is it paint???

I use to work at a chroming plant when I first left school and know the weakness that can be caused by chroming major parts and have learned the hard way myself.

Anyways what is your plan for the bike, wouldn't take much to make it road legal and the Featherbed frames are a great handling bike and fun to ride.

Let us know what your plans are and enjoy.

Ashley

Hi again and thanks for the welcome!
Plans for the bike are a full overhaul over the coming winter then to use it for parades mainly, I probably won't bother about trying to make it road legal though....
I did much the same last winter with another old race bike and I enjoy the work but not dealing with all the bureaucracy!!

Before it all comes apart though there are a few issues to sort first....fairing mounts, a central oil tank, seeing if the brakes can be made to work etc...
I'm looking forward to finding out whats inside the motor, I have some pictures and text (in French) from when it was built, lightened crank, needle roller cam bearings, big valves etc....also a Wader magneto....belt drive....so it should be interesting!
The frame, along with the swingarm and yokes are indeed chromed, I don't intend to alter the look of the bike much but that will certainly change to black....though at present I don't have any real idea how to get it off!!

Interesting seat on your Tribsa... What is it?

Its a homemade try out....I make seats and that is the front half from an A10 dual seat mould with a hump added to make it look like a Gold star race seat....you can get replica GS seats still but very uncomfortable and with a big gap between seat and frame so I made that mould....hadn't got round to getting it covered in that pic...

Hi Tom, just saw your post...thanks! I've stripped the brake and apart from the seals leaking everything else seems ok so if I can get it working reasonably well I'll keep it on the bike...
