Hello Everyone,
I've only just found this forum and joined, most people call me 'Shaggy' and I live in South Yorkshire, U.K. I have owned a Black Mk2a Interstate for the past 20 years or so, the Commando shares garage space with a slimline framed, 8 valve Triton, a couple of BSA Starfires, that I use through the bad weather for winter rallies etc and a BMW R1150GS.
The Commando is a 1974 model with Maxton forks, big disc, lockheed caliper, belt primary, single carb, lots of stainless, etc and is used mainly for summer camping trips and blasts around Derbyshire.
I hope that I can give and receive advice in general discussions etc on the forum and look forward to Commando chit chat.

Hello shaggy, from a fellow (West) Yorkshire resident (and Yorkshireman).

With your credentials it looks as if you will have gained quite a lot of knowledge along the way. From the spec of your Commando, it sounds like it should be fairly low maintainence, and practical. When did you get the Maxton forks converted :?: I haven't contacted them, but have heard along the grapevine that they aren't doing fork conversions for "classics" any longer.

Also, are you pleased with the results :?:

Hi Reggie,

Just checked out their web site at www.maxtonsuspension.co.uk and they still offer all the classic work. I went the whole hog and had their cartridge dampers fitted with adjustable compression damping, their own bushes machined to my stanchions and fork sliders and their springs. The difference is unbelievable, hit a pot hole at speed and ride through it, use the big disc till it squeals the tyre with no bottoming out.
Prior to that I ran Progressive springs and RGM alloy damper rods, it worked o.k. but now it's wow :D , the Maxton are expensive but worth it if you use the bike a lot.

Thanks shaggy. I've just had a look and sent an enquiry.

Thanks for that.
