HI all,

I've been trolling through here and wanted to introduce myself. This is by far the most bizarre collection of nut jobs - so happy to have found it. I'm located in Oakland CA but grew up in Melbourne Australia - I see you have active members from both countries on here. I had a bike accident about 6 years ago and swore (to my new fiance at the time) to never ride again - grew up on dirt bikes on paddocks in OZ. The now wife sees me stare at bikes every time one goes by. I restored a 1963 Austin Sprite with period supercharger and that kept me busy for 2 years, sold it recently and with nothing to tinker and still a longing for acceleration - the wife suggested I get a bike to ride for pleasure and not to split lanes at 80 mph on CA HWY's. She's a keeper. I did a bit of research (but its never enough) - rode a new Thruxton, some Duc's but absolutely fell in love with a commando I saw parked in San Francisco - where the 4uck have these bikes been all my life?! (I'm in my mid 30's - before I cop some $hit here)
Long story short, as with most of my antisocial generation - I purchased a "dunstal" on ebay and got bent over (not too bad) but absolutely love the bike. I found the craziest 4ucker to help me get it going - Ken Armann in Campbell CA - he is awesome - anyways, she will be ready in the next couple of weeks with the main stuff fixed like exhaust ports, carbs, dunstal front brakes and other bits and pieces.
Thanks for all the great info on here - enough talk - here are some pics.. she is definitely not a dunstal and just a mutt- love her just as much.

Ohh BTW- Ken Armann is great - no disrespect to him at all by my posting - if you don't like swearing, naked chicks or old british shit- then he is not your guy, but I'm probably guessing Nortons arent either...

Pics on next post- once I figure out how to attach them..

Welcome aboard,
nice commando... Ken is a card, and knows his stuff.
I used to have a '65 sprite - back then we called 'em spridgets. no supercharger but that was one fun car. Almost 40 years later, I still laugh at the idea of me and my high school sweetie doing it in that tiny roadster. Ahhhh! teenage desire!
cheers,
Don

Welcome ,I too troll about but for big pike with 50 lb. test ( this wknd. yahoo ! Parry Sound) and have been called a nut before so no offence taken. Peter.

fyi, no profanity filter on the forum.

You can say fuck.

Welcome aboard.

Right click (or two finger click if you have your MacBook set up as such) on the picture to get the link. Then post between the img tags. But honestly better to use Photobucket.

Dunstall front end. Fastback tank, flat track style seat. Looks fun.

Hey Ho babatus, Ken did my '72 special front master cylinder resleeve and advised on other things, but missed out on the naked gal and colorful expressions. Not that many mention Ken here so you lucked the fuk out to land in his neighborhood.

Cool white color scheme and details, as if from another era eh.

Interesting bike. Different. I like it. I'm sure you're a bigger nutjob than any of us. Well, maybe except for hobot..

Thanks guys - I definitely fit here. Unfortunately the gas tank was damaged (crushed) on delivery so we are putting on another fastback tank for now and will re paint the seat, fenders, oil covers and tank. Keep you guys posted. I'm heading down to San Diego this weekend anything Norton related I should check out there?

Cheers,

When you check in on Ken again might ask and alert us to any special goodies or mods he's got to offer. All motorcycler's are nutzo when hobby looked at rationally, I just show it more than some though less than others, to my mind, thank you very much for the examples.
