Hi there,

First time working on a motorcycle, please forgive my ignorance. I've installed a new harness and am left with the branch pictured below. It looks like it should tie into the ignition somehow? Can anyone tell me if / how this should be connecting? I have installed a Boyer ignition with red, black, white, yellow+black and white+black wires comin' out of it, also a Colorado Norton Works single coil.

New harness wiring questions

Those wires would be for the original 'points' double condenser pack (2CP rubber block) and the ballast resistor (ceramic block) both of which should be disconnected from the electrical system (or removed completely) when electronic ignition is fitted.

Presumably, you have already read the Boyer instructions and studied both the factory wiring diagram and Boyer diagram as (for standard positive earth/ground) the Boyer box white needs to be connected to the white/yellow from the handlebar kill switch, in which case the white/blue can be bypassed, the Boyer box red can either be connected to the harness red or a good earth/ground point. The box black/white and black/yellow connect to the Boyer stator in the points housing and the black/white and black/yellow harness wires can be used for this purpose if required. Edit: This is assuming you have a new harness section containing black/white and black/yellow wires which go to the 'points' housing?

Dual coils are not usually polarity-sensitive so the Boyer box black wire and the coil-ground (red) wire can be connected to the dual coil either way.

Hi,

From that loom the only wires you need are the BY and BW which would have gone to the points but and now go to the electronic ignition. The white is then the power to the Boyer.
All the otherrs can be taped off.

Sean
